I'm currently a second year Art and Design student at the Wigan School for the arts, specialising in textiles. My experience as an Art and Design student has allowed me to develop and express a personal and unique creative view of life, taking this into my practical work, and exploring all creative processes. I love to express myself within my work through the range of media exploration in colour, shape which creates compositions and patterns and ranges of different texture, materials and different applique stitching techniques as you may gather with the images I have posted onto this blog. I also have my own personal blog attached on this account, this can be found at: http://textilefashionister.blogspot.com/ .
Additionally, within my spare time I like to visit art exhibitions contemporary, historical and locally, looking for inspiration around me to prepare myself for the next set of work in which I will then produce, I enjoy getting involved in volunteer projects, such as 'Orange Rockcorps'.I have worked as a sales assistant at Topshop for over a year and still enjoy working there within a team and also being in an environment, where I see the latest fashion trends on a day to day basis.
Furthermore, the reason I have chosen the course is because I wish to develop the skills I already have as an art and design student and to learn new skills and techniques in a specialist area where I will enjoy researching both historical and contemporary fashion and textile designers, I am looking forward to new, challenging experiences at university, and would relish the opportunity to take my current studies further. My ambition, after graduation, is to learn through working in teams and with different people, by hopefully becoming a designer within the fashion industry.
